Jai Prakash Gupta’s Successful Textile Venture in Kushinagar
In a remarkable departure from the usual trend, Jai Prakash Gupta, a resident of Padrauna city in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, chose to establish his textile industry in his hometown rather than moving to a bigger city. Despite running two successful textile factories in Silvassa for the past 20 years, where his products are distributed nationwide, he decided to take on the challenge in his home state. This decision followed an invitation by the government to the 2023 Investors Summit in Uttar Pradesh, promising full support for his venture.
Overcoming Initial Challenges
Starting the textile industry in Padrauna came with its share of obstacles, but Jai Prakash’s determination saw him through. Today, his factory’s products are not only popular among local businessmen but also exported to Gujarat. The factory stands out by employing local artisans who previously lived in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Ludhiana, and Gujarat for work. Now, these artisans can work in their hometown, enjoying the comfort of staying with their families while earning a livelihood.
Factory Operations and Future Plans
The factory currently has around 80 machines and employs 80 artisans. It specializes in manufacturing lowers, t-shirts, and tracksuits, with wholesale prices starting at just ₹150. Additionally, the factory offers printing services, allowing customers to have their organization’s logo printed on the garments. Jai Prakash plans to expand the product range soon to include blazers, jackets, and other types of clothing, ensuring a complete range for retail businessmen.
Jai Prakash Gupta has ambitious plans for the future, aiming to increase the factory’s capacity and the number of machines. This expansion is expected to create a new dimension in the textile industry in Purvanchal, further boosting local employment and economic growth.
