5G service in next few months
Addressing the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) through video conference, the Prime Minister today said that efforts have been initiated by the government to enable 6G service in the country by the end of this decade. Along with this, he told that preparations are being made to start 5G service in the next few months.
Economy will grow faster with 5G

Modi also said that in the next one and a half decades, 5G is going to contribute $ 450 billion to the country’s economy. This will give impetus to the progress of the country and employment generation. He said that connectivity in the 21st century will determine the pace of progress of the country. The Prime Minister also released a postage stamp on the occasion and also launched a 5G test bed developed as a multi-institution collaborative project by a total of eight institutions led by IIT Madras.
Self-reliance in Telecom Technology

Congratulating the researchers and institutions associated with this project, he said, “I have got the opportunity to dedicate my self-made 5G test bed to the nation. This is also an important step towards self-reliance of critical and modern technology in the telecom sector. Will play a big role in bringing 5G technology to the villages of the country.

Other institutions participating in the 5G project include IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIS Bangalore, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (S.A.M.E.E.R) and Center of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWIT). . According to the Prime Minister’s Office, this project has been prepared at a cost of more than 220 crores. This technology will be beneficial for Indian industries and startups. It is noteworthy that TRAI was established in 1997 under the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act, 1997.
