Ajmer’s winter season is all about indulging in healthy food, and eggs are a popular choice. Many people in Ajmer district are adding eggs to their daily diet, leading to a surge in egg consumption. This increased demand has also driven up egg prices in the market. Currently, raw eggs are being sold for seven rupees each, while boiled eggs cost twelve rupees per piece. The price of an egg box has risen from Rs 860 in early December to Rs 1080 now. Egg consumption has increased by 45 to 50 percent due to the cold weather.
Egg trader Mukesh stated that egg prices are climbing as winter sets in, and they may continue to rise. The price hike is linked to the increased cost of chicken feed, which has gone up by 30 percent due to higher prices for soybeans, maize, and millet.
Mukesh also highlighted that eggs contain healthy fats that are not a primary cause of obesity. Eating eggs helps keep cells healthy, strengthens body parts, and maintains body warmth.
