- According to the Panchang, this year the second date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month will fall on 26 October 2022.
- Second date starts – October 26, will start at 02.42 pm
- The second date ends – October 27, it will end at 12:45 in the afternoon.
- This time October 26, 2022 is the auspicious time for worship of Bhai Dooj, so on this day sisters will do tika to their brothers, then it will be auspicious.
- According to the date of rise, Bhai Dooj can also be celebrated on 27 October 2022.

Importance of Bhai Dooj
The festival of Bhai Dooj is considered very important in Hinduism. It is believed that this festival symbolizes the dedication between brothers and sisters. On Bhai Dooj, sisters apply tilak of turmeric and roli on the forehead of their brother.
It falls two days after Diwali. On this day sisters affectionately invite their brothers to their homes and vaccinate them with affection and wish them long life. It is a belief that on this day a brother must take food at his sister’s house and if brothers and sisters sit on the banks of river Yamuna and have food, then it becomes the reason for success in life.
Why is Bhai Dooj celebrated?
According to a legend, Yamuna and Yamraj were brothers and sisters. He was born from the womb of Chhaya, wife of Lord Shree Narayan. Yamuna was very much in love with her brother Yamraj and, under the influence of love, repeatedly invited Yamraj to have food at her house, but Yamraj, being busy with his daily activities, refused his invitation.
Once on the second day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, Yamuna made her brother Yamraj promise to have food in his house. Yamraj thinking that even when I am about to kill people’s life, sister’s affection is calling me. Thinking of this, on the second day, Yamraj went out to eat food at his sister Yamuna’s house and freed all the creatures of hell.
Seeing Yamraj at home, Yamuna’s happiness knew no bounds and she started feeding him with respect. Seeing the sister’s affection, Yamraj asked the sister to ask for a boon. At that time Yamuna said that I want as a boon that on this day the sister who will feed her brother with respect, hospitality and commentary on this day should never be afraid of you.
In such a situation, Yamraj gave invaluable clothes and some ornaments to Yamuna by saying ‘Tathastu’ and left from there. From that time it became popular that the sister who invites her brother to his house to do tika and feed him, then his brother will be blessed by Yamraj and he will get the boon of longevity.
