Ongoing Rabi Crop Sowing and Fertilizer Use
As the Rabi crop sowing season progresses, farmers are utilizing fertilizers and pesticides to enhance their yields, which increases their labor and costs. The Bihar government has launched a new initiative to reduce these burdens. According to the state government, drones will be used to spray pesticides over 53,400 acres across all 38 districts of Bihar. The Agriculture Department of Bihar indicates that drones will apply NPK, Kansotiya, Nano Urea, Nano DAP, and other fertilizers, including microelements, in all districts. This scheme is available only to farmers registered on the DBT portal of the Agriculture Department.
Government Subsidy: Rs 20 Per Acre
The government will subsidize Rs 20 per acre for farmers, who will need to cover the remaining costs themselves. Each farmer can receive a grant for drone spraying on up to 10 acres. The government has selected a state-level agency to provide drones. This agency will prepare the fertilizer solution and carry out the spraying in the presence of Agriculture Department personnel based on farmers’ requests.
