The demand for lemon usually remains in season. At present, its price has crossed Rs 300 per kg.
Abhishek Jain is a resident of Sangramgarh in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan. He belongs to a Bania family. But despite this, he is doing farming on his ancestral land since 2007. He has a total of 30 bighas of land, in which he is growing organic lemon and guava.
Abhishek Jain says that he never wanted to become a farmer but after the death of his father, he had to do this work. He told that he completed his B.Com from Beawar Ajmer, after which he went into the business of marble.
But he could not last long in that business because his father had passed away and he had to take care of farming. Abhishek says that after this he started farming and first of all he planted some lemon and guava plants in his field.
After doing farming for some time, Abhishek started organic farming. Abhishek says that his decision to turn to organic farming was the right one. He said that “Before 2014, I myself was not very aware that what should be mixed in the soil? I also tried to grow pomegranate but my plants were destroyed due to indiscriminate use of chemicals. Then I decided to do organic farming and started using natural fertilizers and ingredients like Jeevamrut.
do lemon business

Abhishek says that now because of adopting organic farming, he does not have to spend money on chemicals and that is why he saves an extra 2 to 3 lakh rupees in a year. Also, the quality of their soil has improved due to organic farming. Now apart from cultivating lemons, he also makes a lot of lemon pickles because his family always used to make good lemon pickle at home. And once he served this pickle to his guests, he said that it is very good and it can be done business. After which he distributed 50 kg of lemon pickle free of cost for the people to taste.
In 2016, he started the business of pickles and now he sells 500 to 700 kg of pickles every year. Apart from packing and shopping, he sells a 900 gm bottle for around ₹200 with a nominal cost. Now it has become a good means of earning for them, along with this they also get good profits from guava. Abhishek Jain says –
Lemon has changed my whole life. My average income from lemons planted in 1.75 acres is about 6 lakhs. Whereas my cost of cultivation is about one to one and a half lakh rupees. From business point of view, both guava and lemon give good fruits after 3 years of transplanting and are available throughout the year.
