CM Oath Ceremony: Devendra Fadnavis is gearing up to take the oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for the third time. Amidst the preparations, one particular detail has caught everyone’s attention and stirred emotions. The invitation letters for the swearing-in ceremony have a unique touch that surprised many.
The invitation issued by Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik refers to Devendra Fadnavis as “Devendra Sarita Gangadharrao Fadnavis,” including his mother Sarita’s name. This is a first in his political career.
A Special Gift to His Mother
Traditionally, people in Maharashtra use their father’s name as their middle name. However, Devendra Fadnavis has chosen to honor his mother by including her name. In his previous swearing-in ceremonies in 2014 and 2019, he used only “Gangadhar” as his middle name, and the same was used in his recent election affidavit. This gesture is seen as a personal tribute to his mother, who has been a steadfast supporter of his political journey.
Mother’s Pride in Her Son
Sarita Fadnavis, Devendra’s mother, usually stays away from the limelight. However, after the BJP’s victory in the state elections, she expressed her pride in her son’s achievements. She mentioned, “Everyone in the party wants him to become the Chief Minister again. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi considers him as his son.”
Final Preparations for the Swearing-In
Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan are in their final stages, with invitations sent to top political figures and dignitaries. Born into a Brahmin family, Devendra Fadnavis faced personal loss early in life when his father, Gangadhar Fadnavis, passed away. His father was also a leader of Jan Sangh and BJP. Despite these challenges, Fadnavis carved his path in politics and became one of the youngest leaders to hold the Chief Minister’s post in Maharashtra.
