Airport Incident Uncovered: Passenger Smuggles Gold During Flight
Once the aircraft doors shut, it’s the responsibility of the pilot and the cabin crew to maintain safety and prevent illegal activities. Surprisingly, on a recent flight, not only was the pilot in the dark, but even the vigilant air hostess had no idea about a scandalous incident happening on board.
During a flight, a passenger managed to conduct an illicit activity thousands of feet in the air. After the act, he nonchalantly returned to his seat and, upon landing, exited the plane and reached the terminal without raising any alarms. However, luck ran out when an Air Intelligence officer at the terminal recognized him and began questioning him based on suspicion.
This incident took place at Mumbai Airport, where Customs’ Air Intelligence Unit had specific information about a suspect named Enamul Hasan arriving from Male. As the flight landed, the AIU kept a close watch on Enamul. He was stopped at the customs green channel, but no contraband was found on him.
Upon further interrogation, Enamul initially lied but eventually confessed to hiding a parcel in the toilet light panel. The AIU team retrieved 13 taped pouches containing around three kilos of gold, valued at approximately Rs 2.10 crore. Following this, Enamul was promptly arrested by the AIU.
