The ongoing lockdown in selected states in the country has created quite havoc in terms of product launches in the automotive space. Just earlier this week we reported that Skoda will now bring in the Octavia sometime next month, after being forced to reschedule its launch from April. Hyundai, too, has joined the bandwagon as it gets set to bring in the all-new Alcazar in the second half of June. The Korean carmaker took the wraps off the 7-seater SUV in April and was initially scheduled to launch it in May.
For the uninitiated, the Alcazar is a mid-sized 7-seater SUV based on the Creta. In fact, the Alcazar is powered by the same engine and transmission options as the best-selling Creta. Under the hood, the Alcazar will come with petrol, as well as a diesel engine option. The gasoline-powered Alcazar makes 157bhp and 191Nm from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit – the same one that also powers the Elantra and the Tucson. The Alcazar shares its diesel heart with the Creta – a 1.5-litre four-cylinder unit that pushes out 113bhp and 250Nm. Both engines come paired with a 6-speed manual as well as 6-speed automatic transmission.
