Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a heroic revolutionary who was considered the Iron Man in India’s attainment of independence, was born on 31 October 1875 in Nadid village. Education –
Due to the poor financial condition of the house, his father also wanted to send him to study outside. But seeing the condition of the house, Vallabhbhai refused to go to college. Similarly, successful his hard work, he edited the title of barrister. And at the same time they got involved in the service of the country.
In this way he became an Indian barrister and politician and was one of the main leaders of the Indian National Congress as well as one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India. He played a very important role in keeping Bharata tied in the thread of unity and also fulfilled the dream of independent India. He was also known as Sardar in India and elsewhere.
Political Journey:
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the first home minister of independent India to take oath. Who Indianized the Indian Civil Services ICS and made them Indian Administrative Services IAS.
In view of his true devotion towards the country, he was awarded India’s highest honor Bharat Ratna posthumously in the year 1991. This gem was given to his grandson Vipinbhai Patel.To keep his memory fresh, the airport in Ahmedabad has been named Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
The present Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, laid the foundation stone of a memorial of Sardar Patel in Gujarat on 31 October 2013 in his honor. It has been named ‘Statue of Unity’.
Battles for India’s Independence
In November 1917, he met Gandhiji for the first time and the all-round movement going on in the country turned against Gandhiji to achieve independence and jumped into the fire of achieving independence. In 1918, managed famine relief in Ahmedabad district in a very systematic way, got a good amount of money approved from Ahmedabad Municipal Board to Gujarat Sabha, which established a temporary hospital to deal with the epidemic like influenza.
In the year 1919, the Congress Committee of the state was changed in Gujarat and made Gandhi himself the secretary and the chairman of this committee.
In the year 1920, by jumping into the all-encompassing non-cooperation movement to achieve independence in the country, he awakened to adopt indigenous khadi, dhoti, kurta and slippers and boycotted foreign goods. In 1921, he became the chairman of the reception committee of the 36th Ahmedabad session of the Indian National Congress.
As a professional lawyer, he earned a special place by challenging the British administration and judges by making weak cases strong. Suddenly his wife died in 1908. At that time they had a son and a daughter. Due to which there were some difficulties in his family life, but he kept his patience and strong will strong. and traveled to London in 1910. There he studied diligently and passed the final examination with a high reputation.
Reverence for Gandhiji –
Sardar Patel had unwavering faith and faith in Gandhiji. Sardar Patel was the first person to spend his last moments with Gandhiji before his death. Considering Gandhiji’s death as his security mistake, he blamed himself, because at that time Sardar Patel himself was the Home Minister. And went into such shock that within two months he had a heart attack.
Relation with Nehru:
Nehru ji was the Nawab of rich families, away from the ground reality, a person who just thought and Patel used to show the same work. Whereas Sardar Patel belonged to a simple peasant family.
And both were inspired by Gandhi’s ideology, that’s why they were probably in command. Otherwise, there was a lot of difference between the ground and the sky in the thinking of both. Patel was a big hurdle for Nehru in the Congress.
Vallabhbhai Patel’s death
After the death of Gandhiji in 1948, Patel was deeply traumatized by this and he had a heart attack a few months later, from which he could not recover and left this world on 15 December 1950.
