His upper right hand is abhaya mudra and the lower hand is holding a trident. In the upper left hand he is holding a damaru and in the lower left hand is the Vara Mudra.

Maa MahaGauri Katha
Goddess Uma, the daughter of Himalaya, had done severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Due to that harsh penance, the body of Goddess Uma had turned black, when Lord Shiva, pleased with her penance, appeared to the Goddess and asked about her wish, the Goddess said that Lord, I want to have you in the form of a husband.
Lord Shiva gladly accepted his demand and promised to take her along as his wife. Pleased with her rigorous penance, Lord Shiva bestowed Gaur Varna on the Goddess, due to which Goddess Uma is also known as Gauri. Goddess Gauri was named Mahagauri because of being the consort of Mahadev, because without Mahadev, Gauri and without Gauri, Mahadev is incomplete. By taking the name of Mahagauri, both Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are worshipped.
The vehicle of Goddess Mahagauri is both a Taurus and a lion. The story of a lion becoming the vehicle of the goddess is very funny. Once upon a time, a lion lived in the same forest where the goddess was doing penance. One day the lion went out in search of food, but till evening, he did not find any prey, the hungry lion was returning back to his cave. Then his eyes fell on Goddess Uma absorbed in penance, seeing him, saliva started dripping from his mouth. But being absorbed in Devi’s penance, Singh sat in front of her and waited for the completion of her penance.
On completion of the penance, the goddess saw that the condition of the lion had become very dilapidated, so she lovingly made him her vehicle. Singh had also done penance, so as a result of penance, he also started worshiping along with the goddess.
