Regarding the birth of Parashurama, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, it is believed that he was born on the third day of Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month. Like Hanuman ji, Parashuram ji is considered one of the living gods even today.
Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated every year on the third day of Shukla Paksha of Baisakh month. According to religious beliefs, on this day Lord Vishnu took his 6th incarnation as Parashurama. That is why Parashuram Jayanti is also celebrated along with Akshaya Tritiya on this day. This year Parashuram Jayanti will be celebrated on 3rd May. Lord Parashuram may have been born in Brahmin family but his qualities were like that of Kshatriyas. Of the five sons of sage Jamadagni and mother Renuka, the fourth son was Parashurama. Parashuram was a great devotee of Lord Bholenath.
Hence the name Parashurama.
According to mythology, Parashuram ji, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, was born to destroy the injustice, unrighteousness and sinful deeds happening on earth. He is considered one of the seven Chiranjeevi men. Parashuram ji was named Ram at the time of his birth. He used to do rigorous meditation of Lord Shiva. After which Lord Bhole was pleased and provided him with many weapons. Parashu was also one of them which was his main weapon. He had assumed Parashu, hence his name was Parashurama.
Mother was killed because of this
According to the belief, once Parshuram’s mother Renuka had committed a crime. Sage Jamadagni was enraged at this and ordered all his sons to kill the mother. On this all the brothers of Parashuram ji refused to kill, but Parashuram ji obeyed the father’s order and killed Mother Renuka. Pleased with this, sage Jamadagni asked Parashurama to ask for three boons.
On this, Parashuram ji had asked for the first groom to revive his mother, while the second groom had asked for the elder brothers to be cured and the third one to never be defeated in life. Lord Parashuram was also the guru of great people like Bhishma Pitamah, Dronacharya and Karna.
